Impact All Stars - Java Java Dub

1989 re-issue of a cracking 1972 dub and toasters session featuring Augustus Pablo/Impact All Stars/Crutches & Dennis Brown/Upsetters/Dennis Alcapone & Tommy McCook and The Heptones
I hadn't heard of this gem until recently, the re-issue is out of print with no CD issue in sight
Top notch throughout

Hair Rave-Up - Live From The Shaftesbury Theatre London

What can you say about this one?
It's got the lot
Recorded live (apparently) at the after show rave-up of the original run of the Hair musical in 1969 with Cyril Stapelton at the controls
The music steers clear of the musical thankfully, aside from 2 cuts
Instead we get covers of 'El Pussy Cat' and Lennon & McCartney's 'Birthday',but the real bonus are three uptempo & funky Alex Harvey originals
Not only this, but Alex Harvey rips it up on the best version of 'All Along The Watchtower' you're ever likely to hear

Howard Blake and His Combo - Hammond In Percussion

More organ grooviness
This is a 1966 Studio Two release heavy on the cheese, but contains a few nuggets
The album features covers of Bacharach/Lennon & McCartney and Jobim, has a couple of great originals and a kinda Jimmy Smith take on the James Bond Theme
The standout though is 'The Shark'

Brian Auger,Julie Driscoll & The Trinity - Open

A real killer rarity to kick off with
This is the Italian issue of Auger's classic 'Open'full of great late 60's organ grooves
The difference here is 'Black Cat' is sung in italian
Consistent and brilliant throughout with a fab version of Donovan's 'Season Of The Witch'
The album comes in a unique and groovy sleeve, far superior to the UK issue
